New Edmonton downhill race team: The SECT

With the 2009 race season all wrapped up and the 2010 season just around the corner River Valley Cycle is excited to announce the formation of a new downhill race team in Edmonton, The SECT. Branching off from the successful DHR race team, The SECT will be taking downhill racing to the next level, operating like many of the Canada Cup and World Cup teams seen at races. Our goal is to provide up and coming racers the support and training needed to succeed at an elite level of riding, for the 2010 season the team will be racing the entire ADHRA schedule, along with several BC Cups, Canada Cups and of course Crankworx’s in Whistler.

The SECT roster for 2010:

Dave "Dazzles" Addington – Team mechanic and manager, Dave has been racing downhill for several years and as a trained engineer will have the team bikes running smooth all year.

Jesse McCue – A Nelson boy relocated to Edmonton, Jesse will be racing Senior and is on track for his best season yet.

Derek "D-rock" Plehwe – Undefeated in 2008, Derek will be racing Elite against some of the best racers out there, at the 2009 Canadian Open D-rock finished only 30 seconds behind Sam Hill on one of the toughest courses of the year.

Danny Frey – An established junior expert racer, Danny is looking to make the National team and will be concentrating on Canada Cups. Look for this kid to be the next Canadian to beat.

Warren "War Machine" Liba – Alberta 4X champ in 2009, battle hardened Warren will be lighting up the track racing elite in DH and 4X.

Nathan Babichuk – Newcomer to the team, at only 15, a solid and consistent rider with many podiums to come he currently holds the Rabbit Hill Full Throttle track record.

The SECT will be rocking all the latest gear from EVIL Bikes, Troy Lee Designs, and Cycles Lambert/Maxxis tires. The SECT would also like to thank our other supporters Helenka Prochazka Digital Designs, Karve Machine Inc. (Chris Kirchen), and everyone else who has helped us out so far.

You can help support the team by dropping by River Valley Cycle and picking up one of our custom SECT racing headset spacer/bottle opener!
